What is the Wim Hof method?
Well, it’s a series of exercises that consists of three things you can find more information at Wim Hoff’s website www.wimhofmethod.com, but I want you to focus on one particular exercise, the breathing exercise. You might ask why specifically the breathing exercise, well have you ever gone on a 30min jog and got that runner’s high that kept you energized for the rest of the day? This method does it in just 10 minutes; Of course without the extra burned calories, unless losing weight is the desired effect, but now we are seeking the same energizing effect of that daily 30min jog.

Speed is as the name implies the speed at which you inhale, and exhale. The first time you start this exercise it’s going to be slow, that is because the strength of your breathing muscles is weak.

Next is Repetition, the number of full breath cycles before we stop, an inhale and an exhale.

Lastly is the breath hold, this is the moment we start feeling the benefits, and be mindful of what is going on within our body, and I’ll explain what I am talking about in a minute.

I’d like to say a quick disclaimer, doing this exercise will definitely for sure 100% make you feel dizzy, and has the possibility of fainting, that is due to the effect of hyperoxia, the more oxygen you have in the blood the more your muscles will tense up, and you’ll eventually feel like fainting, so please do this exercise in a safe environment, and even better is doing it together with a family member or a loved one, now lets get back to what I was talking about.

When you reach the breath hold, you need to be mindful of your body, you will feel the blood running through your body, oxygen rushing to your fingertips, and each cell in your body tingling, you might experience Tachycardia, or bradycardia, which is fancy for increased or decreased heartrate.

But above all, you’ll feel alive like you just drank a huge cup of coffee, and fully focused, ready for whatever tasks you have laid ahead of your day.

That is what is amazing about this exercise, is the mindfulness of your body, the effect of wakefulness, and the energy you feel surging through your veins as you do the exercise.

As you go through the breath hold it provides you with moments of peace, and quiet, a moment to rest your engines before rushing into your busy day

The study was done on marathon runners, and tested their sprint ability, in the results of the study showed that the sprint power of the athletes did not improve, but what improves was their recovery rate, and their gas exchange efficacy, which means the athletes spent less time recovering after each sprint and felt less fatigued after recovery.

In conclusion, the Wim Hof Breathing method exercises our breathing, improves our gas exchange, enhances our VO2 MAX, reduces stress on the body, and improves its recovery rate, all in just 10 minutes per day.
