Goal setting is just the beginning
Achieving your goals isn't just about setting targets; it's about the mindset and habits that drive success. In this article, we'll explore the key principles that can propel you toward your goals. Are you following these principles?
1. The Power of Obsession
One common characteristic among my successful clients is their unwavering obsession with achieving their goals. They go the extra mile by proactively seeking knowledge, doing the necessary homework, and diligently tracking their progress. Every milestone is a victory, and they are willing to put in the effort to reach them.
2. Weight Management in a Nutshell
If your goal involves weight management, remember this simple rule: consume less than you burn. Calculate your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) to understand your baseline. Use a SmartWatch or Smart Band to calculate what you burn from activities. Keep in mind that a 1,000-calorie deficit is the upper limit to lose one kilogram per week, and 500 calories is the minimum limit to lose half a kilogram per week.
3. Consistency is Key
Consistency is the linchpin of success in any endeavor. Persistence and the refusal to give up are vital. Consider this: maintaining a caloric deficit habit for a year could lead to a remarkable 48-kilogram weight loss, with 24 kilograms as the minimum achievement.
4. Building Healthier Eating Habits
Eating more fruits and vegetables is a fundamental step toward better health. Let's compare a bowl of salad (350 Calories per serving) to a Big Mac (508~540 Calories per serving)– which one will keep you fuller and healthier? Additionally, when you crave something sweet, opt for fruit. They're not only delicious but also packed with essential vitamins and trace minerals that your body needs.
5. Associate Good Habits with Existing Habits
Linking good habits with existing routines can make them easier to maintain. For example, pair your daily exercise with your morning coffee or your fruit snack with your afternoon break. These associations can reinforce positive behaviors until they stick.
6. "If There's a Will, There's a Way"
This timeless saying has been my mantra since childhood, instilled in me by my mother. It's a reminder that determination and willpower are essential drivers of success. With the will to achieve, you'll find a way to overcome challenges and reach your goals.
7. Share Your Journey
Accountability can be a powerful motivator. Share your goals and progress with your closest friends, family, or even on social media. Knowing that others are aware of your aspirations can provide the support and encouragement you need to stay on track.
